Bloomsburg Women's Basketball Falls to West Chester

WEST CHESTER--Despite placing three players in double figures, the Bloomsburg University women's basketball lost to West Chester on Wednesday by a score of 78-49.
Bloomsburg started quickly jumping out to a 5-0 lead on a bucket by Stephanie Jones (Philadelphia/Manor College) and a three-pointer by Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) in the first half minute and a half of play. West Chester, though, came back with a run of 22-4 over the next seven minutes to take a 22-9 lead.
The Huskies, though, came roaring back with a 15-2 run of its own to go back on top, 26-24, with 3:07 to play in the half. Joyce and Stephanie Rankin (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg) keyed the rally by each connecting on two, three-pointers each. However, West Chester came back and took a 34-31 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Huskies fell behind by 12 points, 48-36, with 12 minutes to play, but rallied once more. Rankin hit a three-pointer followed by baskets from Lauren Healy (Glenmoore/Owen J. Roberts) and Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) with 10:57 to go and the Huskies trailed by just five, 48-43. But, that would be as close as the Huskies would get the rest of the way.
West Chester outscored the Huskies 30-6 the remainder of the way to pull and win by 29.
Joyce led the Huskies with 14 points, while Rankin added 13 and Healy 12. West Chester, 11-7, 3-1 in the PSAC East, got 16 points from Dana Weems, while Catherine Andrews added 15.
The Huskies, now 5-14, 1-4 in the PSAC East, play at Columbia Union on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
